Political Parties And The American Political System
Arman Esmaili ââ¬â Period 4 Today, there exists the rift in the American political system marked by the ongoing clash between our political parties: the Republicans and the Democrats. These partiesââ¬â¢ dissenting ideas seem to create non-stop conflict as each party relentlessly competes for the support and votes of the American people. However, over two hundred years ago in the early days of our countryââ¬â¢s government, political parties did not even exist. Early leaders, such as the revered George Washington, feared that political parties would split our country into warring factions that would not only subvert our delicate notion of patriotism, but also weaken public support for the new Constitution. Nonetheless, despite opposition by Washington and others, political parties began to form, and over the years have developed into the familiar political system we have today. The chief factors that led to the rise of political parties were the disagreements between influent ial politicians over the structure of the government, the proper interpretation of the Constitution, and foreign policy regarding European nations. One of the great disputes surrounding the development of the United States Constitution was centered around the distribution of power between the federal government and the individual state governments. In 1790, Jefferson wrote, ...Hamilton was not only a monarchist, but [in support] of a monarchy [based upon] corruption (Document 1). P3 Equality, Diversity and Sociological Perspectives Free Essays
UNITE 2: EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES P3 In this task, discrimination will be defined, levels of discrimination and its clear knowledge and understanding of the consequences. The potential effects of discrimination on service users in Dungrowin House will be described. These discriminatory practices on service usersââ¬â¢ motivation, self-esteem, behaviour and opportunities will be looked at. We will write a custom essay sample on P3 Equality, Diversity and Sociological Perspectives or any similar topic only for you Order Now Discrimination could be define as single out a particular person or group for worse or better treatment than others, according to Penguin Group dictionary (2004). It is against the law to discriminate service users in Health and Social care. According to Stretch and Whitehouse (2010), discrimination is when one person treats another person or group unfairly, by not giving them equal treatment based on their prejudice. There are other ways in which service users can be discriminated against. These could be age, class, culture, gender, health status, race, religion and sexuality. Discrimination can occur in all this forms. In Dungrowin house, both the practising Jew and HIV positive service users are being discriminated against. Similar essay: Equality and Diversity The service users suffer discrimination based on their culture and health status. Most of the nursing staffs in Dungrowin house may not be comfortable with the practising Jew or the HIV positive service users and may discriminate against them. There are three levels of discrimination that service users have suffered in Dungrowin house. They are individual level, institutional level and cultural level. These discriminatory practices have potential effects on the service users in Dungrowin house. Individual level discrimination: This happens where a person is single out and treated differently, negatively. This may include violence, insults and exclusions. In Dungrowin house, service users may suffer this level of discrimination especially the practicing Jew and HIV positive service users. The practicing Jew may be excluded from service usersââ¬â¢ activities, will not be given his/her kosher meal, will not be given the chance to practice his /her faith and many more. For the HIV positive service user the attitudes of the nursing staffs will be negative, will insult him/her for contracting the disease and no one may be willing to get into contact with him/her. Institutional level discrimination: This happens where organisation or institution systems and practices exclude certain groups or persons from accessing its resources. In Dungrowin, there is that level of discrimination. This is because it is a residential care home for the elderly. This means if you are not elderly you cannot be treated. They discriminate against age. Cultural level discrimination: This happens when people absorb the values, beliefs and ideas deeply that they do not challenge negative stereotypes or behaviours. They tend to accept the discrimination to normal or okay. In Dungrowin house, the practicing Jew and HIV positive service users will just accept the discriminatory practices to be normal. This could be the fact that they have complained about the nursing staffs bad practices or abuse and nothing have been done by management. Service users will just have to accept what they go through at the hands of the nursing staffs. According Rasheed, Hetherington and Irvine (2010), there are two typesââ¬â¢ discriminatory practices. They are direct (overt) and indirect (covert). Direct discrimination is usually quite clear, obvious and straight to the abuser. For example, in Dungrowin house nursing staffs will tell the HIV positive service user it is his/her fault that he/she finds him/her self in that situation (verbal abuse). The practicing Jew will be told he/she is having what everybody is eating. Indirect discrimination is difficult to prove, it may occur when people seem as though they are being treated alike. This got to do with bad attitudes and body languages. For example, in Dungrowin house the HIV service user will always be treated with gloves and the nursing staffs will be avoiding im/her (non-verbal communication). With the practicing Jew, he/she will be excluded from service usersââ¬â¢ activities without notice. All of these discriminatory practices have potential effects on service usersââ¬â¢ motivation, self-esteem, behaviour and opportunities. Discriminating against service users does not motivation and self-esteem. It will discourage them from recovering from their illness. In the case of the HIV positive and prac ticing Jew service users, since they are discriminated against in Dungrowin house they have low or no motivation and self-esteem. No one wants to come close to them, use abusive language at them and are denied their privileges in Health and Social care. This discrimination against them will affect service users behaviour. In the case of HIV positive and practicing Jew, they may threaten to commit suicide or self harm. They may be angry with themselves as to why this is happening to them. Since service users are discriminated against their opportunities are limited. The HIV positive and practicing Jew service users are denied of their rights and abuse in all situations. They have no choice of how they are suppose to be treated. Discrimination was defined to be singling out a particular person or group for worse or better treatment than others. People or person can be discriminated against for being different. This could be in terms of their age, class, culture, gender, health status, race, religion and sexuality. There are three levels of discrimination. Which are individual level, institutional level and cultural level. There are also two types of discrimination, direct (overt) and indirect (covert). Discrimination has potential effects on service users and should be discouraged at all levels not just in Health and Social care. Nursing staffs should follow the care value base, policies and legislation provided by their association, agencies and the government. It is against the law to discriminate against service users. Harry Styles by Harry Styles free essay sample
Harry Styles On His Own and Making it Big After about one year of constant waiting and wondering what happened to their favorite band, One Direction fans finally were presented with new singles and albums by their four favorite people. However, these new releases were not music by One Direction, but as works solely by Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Harry Styles. Though Niall, Louis, and Liam wrote and recorded amazing songs in 2017, Harry Styles was the first of the four to release an entire album. Harryââ¬â¢s solo career began the day he released his very first single, ââ¬Å"Sign of the Timesâ⬠on April 7, 2017. The very first time I heard this song, I was immediately dying to know when Harry would release more music because I loved ââ¬Å"Sign of the Timesâ⬠so much. This song is not like a One Direction song. It is filled with a lot of piano, drums, guitar, and even a choir that can be heard towards the end of the song. We will write a custom essay sample on Harry Styles by Harry Styles or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Ultimately, this song had a lot of passion and it was a perfect first single for Harry to show off his promise and talent as solo artist and songwriter. As time went on, I grew even more eager to hear Harryââ¬â¢s voice in another one of his masterpieces. May 2nd finally rolled around and Harryââ¬â¢s second single, ââ¬Å"Sweet Creatureâ⬠was released. Out of all the songs in Harryââ¬â¢s self-titled album, ââ¬Å"Sweet Creatureâ⬠is easily my favorite song, though it is hard to choose because they are all so great. Both ââ¬Å"Sign of the Timesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Sweet Creatureâ⬠have similar slow tempos which made me question what his full album would be like at times. Would they all be slow songs? Will the songs be nothing like the One Direction music I am used to listening to? So many more questions rolled around in my brain as I anxiously waited for the rest of Harryââ¬â¢s album that would arrive later that month. Eventually, after probably the longest 10 days ever for all of Harryââ¬â¢s fans, his very first, full, solo album had been released on May 12, 2017. The 10 songs on the full album include, ââ¬Å"Meet Me in the Hallwayâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Sign of the Timesâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Carolinaâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Two Ghostsâ⬠,ââ¬Å"Sweet Creatureâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Only Angelâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Kiwiâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Ever Since New Yorkâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Womanâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"From the Dining Tableâ⬠. Every song had a signature style so that no two songs would sound the same. Particularly, songs like ââ¬Å"Kiwiâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Only Angelâ⬠had more of a rock-type style, and others like ââ¬Å"Every Since New Yorkâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Two Ghostsâ⬠were more calm and relaxed. ââ¬Å"Carolinaâ⬠was very cheerful and upbeat; it told an adorable story about a girl named Townes that Harry had been set up with one day in California. The fact that Harry Stylesââ¬â¢ first attempt at a solo album was so great shows that he has much promise and he does not need the rest of One Direction to back him up. I definitely believe Harry will continue to be successful on his own, no matter how much I want One Direction to reunite one day. You can listen to and download Harryââ¬â¢s new album on iTunes and Spotify.
